Like most other years, the Jeep Wrangler has finally received an upgrade in 2022. While not too different from its predecessors, it certainly packs a punch on the inside. With the maximum number of customization options ever offered, the iconic car is still headed for the Rubicon.
If post-WW2 history has taught us anything, it is that Jeep wheels and tires frequently have to change and adapt to stay relevant and in the race.
Leaving aside the purists, there are hundreds of Jeep owners who prefer a meatier and a more aggressive rim for off-road and all-terrain travel. This has also prompted world-class custom wheel manufacturers like Method Wheels, Fuel, and American Racing wheels to launch newer and bolder models more often.
But most people who are heavily invested in the aftermarket circuit often overlook one crucial aspect – the tires. Without the right set of heavy-duty tires, your Jeep Wrangler will be very similar to a big cat with no teeth.
Have you read or heard about the latest and best tires for Jeep’s various models?
In case you missed out, here are the best Jeep wheels and tires money can currently buy!
The best tires for Jeep Wranglers – updated July 2022
The stock wheels for Jeep Wranglers are either 17-inch rims (and 18-inch) although a few limited-edition vehicles might require bigger wheels.
The list has been drawn up with 17-inch wheels in mind.
- BF Goodrich T/A KO2: You have to hand it to the engineers at B.F. Goodrich; their Jeep tires are a lot better than they used to be even 5 years ago. This amazing turnaround is propped up a bit more since this is probably the best all-terrain or A/T tire for Jeep Wranglers right now.
These are essentially winter wheels and are often sold pretty rapidly across the United Kingdom and several Northern European countries as temperatures drop below 7° Celsius. That’s the law.
Back here, the T/A KO2 has been widely praised and has a huge fan following. The company has launched several different models to please all Wrangler owners.
Most of the models look superlative when you try on a set of the latest Method Wheels.
We could find only 2 drawbacks: these tires are rather heavy and have some very minor issues while traversing sandy terrain.
Otherwise, the B.F. Goodrich T/A KO2 is undeniably one of the top 3 Jeep Wrangler tires of 2022!
- Falken Wildpeak A/T3W: If you have just bought the latest Jeep Wrangler (perhaps the Rubicon luxury version) but are not satisfied with the stock tires, these are the best Jeep wheels and tires for use on highways and on dry and sunny days.
Meet the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W, a worthy addition to the growing family of fantastic Falken tires – some of which are already dominating most continents. These are perfect for 17-inch rims, although you can use them on slightly bigger wheels as well.
With broad tread blocks, immense sidewalls, and legendary durability (as long as you are taking proper care of them), these Falken tires will become your best friend pretty soon!
Falken has recently indicated that it will launch a follow-up to the successful A/T3W, and that it might have some new sizes too.
Till then, you can buy these tires for comfortable and carefree drives if you are willing to forgive their very average performance on sandy surfaces and the fact that the tread picks up debris like a huge magnet!
- Michelin Defender LTX M/S: No list of the best Jeep wheels and tires can be complete without the inclusion of Michelin’s latest models. This is our favorite tire for highway and suburban driving. If you are not the type to go off-roading and have no love for the rush of adrenaline that accompanies it, you can blindly go for the Michelin Defender LTX M/S.
It is also one of the most handsome tires currently available for Jeep Wranglers, irrespective of the generation. The French giant has tinkered with a lot of ideas and has launched several sizes. That essentially means that if you are a fan of oversized aftermarket rims, now is the time to go on the hunt for bigger Method Wheels!
Unlike the other 2 big names on this small list, this model is comparatively lightweight. Michelin has clearly figured out its target audience (in the Wrangler community) and is wooing them intensely.
Like most other major Jeep tires, the Defender LTX M/S is ideally meant for 17-inch rims.
That said, you can perhaps ask your trusted garage and their experts if they can make it fit on slightly bigger rims. They will be able to, without doubt.
The drawbacks? This is the priciest model on this list. Plus, the wet performance could have been a bit better.
