Cider Barrel Week is another one of those annual events that anyone in the right place at the right time can take part in. It is held the first weekend in October and is focused on the history and culture of the United States. It is a great place to learn about the food and drink that is so closely associated with college life—alcohol. The event is free and open to the public, and you can learn a lot about your fellow students and the drinking scene at WMU.

Free WVU College Camping Invitation

The Free WVU College Camping Invitation is a free residential program at WMU that gives students the opportunity to spend a month living in the mountains of western Michigan. The program is only open to incoming WMU students and is a great way to get your feet wet in backpacking and other outdoor activities. The amount of excursion that can be taken each year is very limited, so this is a great opportunity to try out backpacking with friends.
